Part Two.
Lets start with Bitterness-
Bitterness comes when you allow anger to control you.
1 Samuel Chapter Thirty Verse Six
David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
2 Corinthians Chapter 2 Verse Seven
It is time to forgive and comfort him. Otherwise he may be overcome by discouragement.
Bitterness comes when other hurt you and you refuse to forgive them. Don't ever stop forgiving and forgetting. Remember that God has forgiven you even though you continue your tendency to sin.
Just as God forgive you without limit, you should forgive others without counting how many times. Yes forgiveness isn't cheap. The hard work of real forgiveness reveals a love that is tough but lasting.
Luke Chapter Twenty-Three Verse Thirty-Four.
Jesus said ''Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing.''
If we don't forgive others, how can we expect God and others to forgive us?
Matthew Chapter Five Verse Thirty-eight
''Here's another old saying that deserves a second look: Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Is that going to get us anywhere? Here's what I propose: 'Don't hit back at all. 'If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. If someone drags you into court and sues for the shirt off your back, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live Generously.
[The Message Remix] Translations are used throughout this blog.
If we don't forgive others this leads to unresolved bitterness, which then leads to hatred, anger, jealousy, and revenge. It can keep you from communicating to God and others and it can blind you from noticing God's blessings. This isn't the right way to live.
The antidote to bitterness is simply forgiveness. It will unburden you and cancel any debts and unchain you from unresolved feelings such as anger and frustration.
God promises to forgive you
Colossians Chapter Three Verse Thirteen.
Don't Forget That!
